Rachel Sutherland
Since 2021 Rachel has been the Liquid Innovation Manager at Warner's Distillery, overseeing all product development and liquid quality control of raw materials and final product. Through both brand and own label projects, Rachel has had over 40 products launch to market.
Rachel's career journey started with a Master's Degree in Chemistry at Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, during which she completed an internship at Diageo's Science & Technical Centre where she worked on optimisation projects for Scotch whisky. This led her to apply for a Knowledge Transfer Partnership between the University of Nottingham and Warner's Distillery as a Flavour & Sensory Development Specialist, focusing on training an expert sensory panel and developing a deeper understanding of botanical interactions in the pre and post distillation processes. During this time Rachel completed a postgraduate degree in Sensory Science at the University of Nottingham. In 2021 she was awarded the IWSC Emerging Talent in Spirits Award which led to her becoming a spirits judge across multiple product categories for both international and local award competitions.
